Welcome everyone. As you know, this has come together as summer is rapidly ramping up. So we’ll have to make some of this up as we go along.

This page will hopefully save a bunch of emails (you can always email me directly) and disperse the information quickly. Some assumptions made but we don’t have a lot of time.

CIHS is very excited to host this. We are planning a short - 45 min - performance with the theme of folk songs and sing alongs. As we do with pop ups - we play some ensemble and you might choose a couple “solo” songs. This minimizes rehearsal as everyone will be crazy busy for the summer.

On Sunday morning, Paul English will have his final performance at the Church (I’m doing sound). So, after that equipment breakdown will be key and hopefully we can develop a simple CIHS sound system - for rapid deployment.

Performers - (we also welcome Stone Soup Members to sing back up)

Dana, Melisa, Stephen T, Josh, Dylan, Herb, Chip & John Wilson (mando).

Special banjo guest Rich Stillman will add some sparkle. He hails from the Boston area where he has played and taught for many years. (he’s the one in the middle)

We may not all play on everything but will always be singing.

Songs - Thinking about Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and the Weavers. Start with key of C. Lead vocalist is suggested and, of course, you can share the song and trade off verses. Here’s some links to get the general feel for the setting (Hammer as performed by it’s authors) (won’t match the tabs, which we’ll stick to for now)

Click the links

This Land is Your Land - Stephen Todd

If I Had a Hammer - Melisa

Down By The Riverside-Josh

So Long It’s Been good to Know Ya - John Wilson

Will the Circle Be Unbroken-Melisa & Stephen (Dana - does Ricky Skaggs have some of your fine guitars ?)

Maybe a couple more so please send suggestions.

TABS (notoriously innacurate) so please use caution. But you all know these songs and when the changes are.

Rehersals - If we work with these tabs with these known songs, rehearsals should be simple. Rich doesn’t arrive until Thursday 11th but, if we rehearse before, he can certainly jump right in. We can use my shed.

Dates - at the Shed

Tuesday 9th - 4PM

Thursday 11 (Rich arrives). -4PM

Friday 12 -5PM

Sat 13 - 3PM

The 12th and 13th is Paul English rehearsals and performance)

That’s it for now. Thanks again for joining in. Check back for updates.
